2022 United Nations Ocean Conference: Partnerships for Innovative Financial Instruments to Support Marine Protected Areas, Coastal Communities and Elimination of Plastic Pollution

Co-hosted by the governments of Kenya and Portugal, the United Nations Ocean Conference sought to propel much-needed science-based innovative solutions aimed at starting a new chapter of global ocean action.

 

The Circulate Initiative co-organized a side event at the conference, bringing together a diverse set of voices from the World Bank Group, Ocean Conservancy, Circulate Capital, and European Investment Bank for a panel discussion titled “Addressing Ocean Plastic Pollution and Advancing the Circular Economy: The Case for Innovative Financial Solutions.” The panel explored perspectives on financial solutions and investment opportunities to tackle and scale solutions to the ocean plastic pollution challenge in emerging markets.
