Launch of the Penang Feasibility Study for the Collection of Films & Flexible Plastic Packaging

The Penang State Government is embarking on a study to evaluate current practices and behaviors in the collection of films and flexible plastic packaging, with the goal of establishing an economic and environmentally preferred pathway for recycling as a step to grow the circular economy and p


rovide a model for other communities. The project will be led by the Penang Green Council and Resource Recycling Systems and financial support is being provided by The Circulate Initiative, Fonterra, Thong Guan Industries Berhad and FFM Berhad.


Umesh Madhavan, The Circulate Initiative’s Research Director, attended the official launch of the study alongside participating stakeholders, where he gave a speech on his hopes for the partnership and the value of collaborative efforts to tackle plastic waste.
