This case study focuses on Delterra's successful recycling program in the Argentinian city of Olavarría. Through their Rethinking Recycling initiative, they aimed to create a comprehensive household recycling system and encourage waste separation habits. Despite initial recycling rates of less than 1%, nearly 50% of households now consistently separate their recyclables at home. The program's success led to plans for expanding collection services to the entire population. The study highlights the importance of community engagement and human-centered design research in supporting behavior change. It reveals that most non-recyclers are open to recycling and emphasizes the significance of providing support to willing participants.
