The Healthy Oceans Technology Innovation Challenge was an initiative that invited technology providers to propose high-level technology solutions to address development challenges in Asian Development Bank (ADB)'s developing member countries (DMCs). Selected proposals could receive a grant of up to US$500,000 to undertake a proof-of-concept/pilot. The main objective of the TIC grant was to introduce new technology solutions to support ADB's mandate in assisting DMCs to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The initiative aimed to reduce technology providers' risks related to market entry by showcasing their technologies, while DMCs could learn about new technology solutions to address various development challenges. The proposed technology or solution had to be new to the country or context, with improved efficiency, impact, and/or life-cycle cost compared to existing solutions, and previously tested and verified in another country or context.
