This article highlights how Duy Tan Plastic Corporation, after over three decades of producing plastic packaging, is opening Vietnam's only plastics recycling factory that uses a "bottles to bottles" process, reconditioning used plastic bottles into new packaging. The move towards sustainability was driven by Duy Tan's commitment to reducing plastic waste and staying ahead of potential environmental regulations in Vietnam. HSBC played a role in this project by providing green financing, which partially backed Duy Tan's USD60mn project. In doing so, HSBC is supporting its pledge to provide between USD750bn and USD1trn in finance and investment to support green companies and projects by 2030.
