The webinar featured representatives from Clean Cities and Blue Ocean's global team who presented an overview of the Solid Waste Capacity Index for Local Governments (SCIL) tool, its benefits, and lessons learned from piloting the assessment across Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. This is part of USAID's Clean Cities, Blue Ocean program, which has developed its SCIL assessment tool to enable local governments to self-assess their current waste management capabilities. By pinpointing where capacity building is necessary to create and sustain more economically and environmentally sound waste management systems, a set of actionable recommendations can be established for more robust solid waste plans and systems.
