This article discusses the implementation of the pay-as-you-throw model in Vietnam, which is set to take effect by 2025 as approved by the Vietnamese parliament. Under this model, households are required to sort their waste into three groups: recyclable waste, food waste, and the rest. The law stipulates that the cost of collecting, transferring, and treating the waste would be calculated based on the volume of trash discarded by each household. This means that the more waste a household generates, the higher the fee they would pay.
