WWF released this position on the Chemical Recycling Implementation Principles to help inform if and how the emerging waste management technology should be pursued as a plastic waste mitigation tactic. This document is not an endorsement of any chemical recycling technologies. Its purpose is to establish clear implementation principles to protect people and nature, should these technologies be pursued. The aim is that these principles contribute to informed decision-making and help actors make choices which result in a transformative change to the global plastic system to build sustainable, circular plastic use and support WWF’s vision of No Plastic in Nature.
