This working documents in intended to provide guidance and recommendations for worker care, hygiene, and safety for recycling programs. The document notes that given COVID-19, the temporary suspension of recycling programs is prudent until there is more clarity regarding how grassroots recyclers and other actors can safely return to their work and continue to provide materials to value chains that contribute to the circular economy. The documents notes the intent to have guidelines in place once the authorities have given the green light, recycling activities can resume safely and without unnecessary risk to recyclers or citizens.
