This presentation provides a framework to understand and reduce plastic leakage through identifying hotspots, prioritizing interventions, and selecting the instruments to implement interventions. The program, an economy-wide material flow analysis scheme for plastic, is currently in development and being tested in 10 locations: Cyprus, Kenya, Mauritius, Menorca, Mozambique, Brazil, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam. Hotspots are being analyzed based on region, value chain, sector, plastic polymer, and plastic application. The resource concludes with a matrix to evaluate the data quality underpinning decision making around targeted interventions.
