The Prevented Ocean Plastic (POP) labeling scheme covers prevented ocean plastic material sold by Batam and backed by OceanCycle Certification. Prevented Ocean Plastic is defined as recycled plastic collected from coastal areas at risk of ocean plastic pollution. Namely, material found within 50km of an ocean coastline or major waterway that feeds into the ocean in a country or region lacks waste management infrastructure and collection incentives. Requirements also include that the infrastructure is being overwhelmed by population growth or tourism and that there is a significant risk to wildlife.
