Responsible Sourcing Initiative In-person Convening

The Circulate Initiative hosted an in-person convening in Bangalore, India, co-facilitated by Meridian Institute, and brought together brands, recyclers, aggregators and waste worker advocates to discuss the challenges and opportunities to tackle human rights issues in the plastic waste value chain. It also served as a precursor to the launch of The Circulate Initiative’s Responsible Sourcing Initiative.

In addition to learning sessions and discussions, participants were brought on field visits to a waste worker-led and owned collection center and a material recovery facility (MRF), where they gained valuable insights into the lives and challenges experienced by waste workers.
