The ASEAN Conference on Combating Plastic Pollution 2023 is a regional initiative to address one of the most pressing environmental issues in Southeast Asia: plastic pollution. This instrumental initiative was hosted by ERIA, through its Regional Knowledge Centre for Marine Debris, Indonesia National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP), Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs, and Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
Research Director, Umesh Madhavan joined the panel, ‘Banking on Waste: Unlocking Finance to Address Plastic Pollution’, to discuss the state of investment into emerging economies, readiness of viable solutions for investment and how policy can de-risk and incentivize capital flow to circular solutions.
